Japanese Woodblock-Inspired Samurai Illustration

Carved keyblock outlines: confident, slightly varied dark contour lines that hold flat colour areas, with line breaks and elegant tapering rather than uniform ink. Colour is printed in flat, unshaded areas, including the white of unprinted paper, with occasional bokashi soft gradation brushed into a sky, sunset band or water. Visible paper fibre and woodgrain, slight misregistration, and a mottled traditional palette — indigo, vermilion, ochre, tea green, black, muted gold. Decorative graphic conventions: stylised cumulus and cloud bands, curled wave patterns, flat patterned textiles and bold empty negative space. Composition is flat and decorative with a high horizon, asymmetric placement and figures read as silhouette and pattern. Any text is only an abstract seal-like mark — no readable kanji, characters, signature blocks or cartouches with legible writing.
